Vodafone UK is now offering two major Android handsets to its customers: the HTC Desire and the Google Nexus One. Both smart phones have been much awaited by the Android community are considered to be among the top devices that use the open source mobile platform.

The Nexus One was originally intended to be made available only at the Google Online Store. According to previous reports, Vodafone would be redirecting customers to the Online Store as opposed to actually having the stocks of the device on hand. A new turn of events has changed that setup and now, buyers can actually get the Google phone straight from Vodafone UK’s official website.

The reason why the mobile network operator is selling the device directly is for better sales. It was already proven that keeping the Nexus One as a Google Store exclusive is a bad idea –which is why the device is not so widely spread in the United States. The phone is offered by Vodafone on pre-order and those getting the phone early will receive the device as soon as May 5. The Nexus One is available for free under the 35 Pound tariff for 24 months.

The HTC Desire on the other hand has been part of the Vodafone lineup since recently and is considered to be a great alternative to the Nexus One. In terms of prices, the two phones are quite similar to each other (though there are some differences in the offered plans). Hardware wise, the Nexus One and the Desire share many similar specifications.

Both devices come with 1GHz Snapdragon CPUs and have 3.7 inch AMOLED touch screens and 5 mega pixel cameras. The HTC Desire uses the Sense user interface while the Nexus One comes with advanced voice recognition capabilities. You can find the best HTC Desire deals and the very best Nexus One deals to be found in the UK when you compare mobile phones with free gifts deals.
